| India Store was opened in March of 1980 at 5719 Evers Road in a 600 sq ft. space. At the time San Antonio was home to about 225 Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi natives. In 1985 we moved to 5751 Evers Road and expanded to 1000 sq. ft. The South Asian population in San Antonio was gradually rising and in the late 1990s it was again time to expand. In 1999 we ventured into Indian clothing by opening a showroom next door. Then again in 2001 we expanded our grocery section by another 1500 sq. ft. for a total of 2500 sq. ft. Our latest expansion came in 2003 when we became a 5000 sq. ft. mini supermarket providing South Asians in San Antonio with the best quality groceries, the latest movies and music, and the hippest fashions from India. Our goal is to establish a one-stop shopping center where South Asians can get everything they need at low, low prices.
